Major airline carriers boost fuel charges

American Airlines, Delta and United raised round-trip ticket prices by $20 to offset ever-rising jet fuel costs. This applies to most domestic routes. Airlines are also charging for checking a second bag and meals while onboard.

TSA may allow airports to ban guns in unsecured areas

The Transportation Security Administration is considering a request by Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport to allow airports to prohibit people from bringing firearms to parking lots, roads, terminals and other areas in and around airports.

40% say in-flight cell phone use should be allowed

Nearly 40% of Americans think they should be allowed to use cell phones on flights according to a new report from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. About 45% say cell phones definitely or probably should not be used on airplanes.

American adds more fees to frequent flier program

American Airlines added more fees to it's frequent flier program this week. To offset the soaring price of fuel, the carrier will charge customers for using their frequent flier miles to upgrade discounted economy class tickets to business or first class.
